Here we are at the end of 2008 preparing for parties, or a night in just watching movies. Most of us are coming up with our New Year's resolutions and making all sorts of promises about how this year we will actually stick to them. Maybe we will, maybe we won't. The important thing to remember here is that we actually made it through another year here on earth. It was an extremely fast year to I thought. What about you?

I don't know about everyone else but I love my job with the Federal Government as I have never loved a job before. It really is true that good things come to those who wait. It took me almost 13 years to get this job and I am so glad that I didn't give up on it like so many others. Persistence was the key to finally acheiving success with the Federal Government and it's many positions. Over those 13 years I learned that there are many secrets to getting a government job that they just don't(or won't) tell you. I had to learn them the hard way. Sound familiar?

GS pay scale
Ever wonder what Federal employees earn? I always used to. Of course, like most of you I was under the impression that 'they' made a whole lot of money. Not entirely true. At least not just starting out unless you are one of the few who can start out at the top. Which most of us don't.
Check the GS pay scale out for yourself. Go to www.govtjobsecrets.com and under the 'benefits' section click on GS Pay Scales. Once the new page opens go all the way to the bottom to the 'Rest of the US'. There is also a scale for NSPS employees but that's coming up in a future blog.
